Dallas Dental Bridges

Restore Your Smile & Improve Dental Health

Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge attaches to the natural teeth on either side, known as the abutment teeth. Skulman Dental offers bridges in Dallas from a staff of highly trained professionals. Since our practice was established in 1987, we have remained focused on providing unmatched quality dental work and compassionate care for our patients.

Benefits of Bridges

Dental bridges serve both cosmetic and restorative functions. While many people seek bridges for cosmetic reasons, a bridge will enable you to chew and speak normally and offers benefits for your overall dental health. Having one or more missing teeth can have a negative impact on your dental health.

Missing teeth can result in problems such as:
  • The surrounding teeth shifting position
  • Loss of surrounding teeth
  • Speech problems
  • A higher risk of tooth decay
  • Periodontal disease
  • Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)

Studies have shown that dental bridges dramatically reduce the risk of losing the adjacent teeth to the missing ones. In addition, there are significant benefits to your appearance. Replacing missing teeth will make your smile look better and keep your face and jaw from changing shape and getting the sunken look that often happens to people with missing teeth.

What to Expect

In most cases, two visits to our office are required for bridges in Dallas. On the first visit, we will examine your teeth to determine if a dental bridge is the best solution to your problem. If you are a good candidate, we will determine which type of bridge is best suited to your specific needs. There are different types of bridges that work best for different situations.

The types of bridges that are available include:
  • Traditional Bridges: Secure to the teeth on either side of the gap
  • Cantilever Bridges: Used when there are not supporting teeth on both sides
  • Maryland Bonded Bridges: Artificial teeth and gums secured in place with a metal frame

Once your dentist has determined that you are a good candidate and the best type of bridge for you, your teeth will be prepared, impressions will be taken, and you will be given a temporary bridge to use until the next visit. At the second visit, the bridge is fitted to your teeth and any corrections or adjustments are made to ensure a good fit. With good oral hygiene, you can expect your bridge to last for 8-15 years or longer.

Making Bridges Affordable

At Skulman Dental, we want to help our patients get the procedures they need. The cost of bridges varies, depending on the type of bridge, skill level of the dentist, and other factors. In most cases, insurance covers part of the cost of bridges in Dallas. We can find out how much you will have to pay out of pocket. In addition, financing options are available through Care Credit.

If you are wondering if a bridge is the best option for you, we encourage you to contact our office to schedule an appointment for a free consultation. We can examine your teeth, explain your options, and help you find the best solution to improve the appearance and function of your teeth.
